These wrist lanyards are built to potentially save your life in times of distress. Loop the lanyard onto any tool you use while diving. Dive lights, Lobster gauges, Clam gauges, Ab Irons, and the like. Cinch around your wrist. If your tool becomes stuck in the reef or structure, simply pull your arm or body away with 20lbs of force. Break Away Wrist Lanyard

This device is doing what I want, which while still aquatic, has nothing to do with diving. I've made a temporary lane rope for my pool, but I'm concerned about it tearing off the wall because swimmers won't know how to fix the temporary wall mounts, so instead I purchased two breakaways, at 15lbs each to give the lanerope a 30lb breakaway that is easy to fix. That's enough force to ignore casual tugs on the rope but it will fail if someone jumps on the rope, which is what I want.
