CETMA Composites MANTRA Carbon Fin Blades - For CETMA S-Wing Footpockets

The CETMA MANTRA Carbon Fin Blade has been specifically engineered for CETMA S-Wing Footpockets. The S-Wing Footpockets are sold separately and also available for purchase.

Carbon Fiber Blades MANTRA key features:1) 100% IM7 carbon fibre.2) The material used is 100 % Carbon Prepreg produced with hot melt impregnation system, using a micro-toughened tetra-functional epoxy resin. 3) 3D-Tech: Proprietary Technology, of CETMA COMPOSITES exclusive know-how, with high pressure, high temperature and high degree of applied vacuum, which lead to a component with 0% void level, without defects, with a uniform matrix/reinforcement ratio across the whole blade. 4) FEM Design: MANTRA blades are optimized trough an accurate Design by means of Finite Element Softwares (FEM). The Design trough FEM software allows an optimized distribution of the stiffness, with the aim to obtain a deformation ensuring the maximum hydrodynamic efficiency.5) Signature model: developed in collaboration with the world champion CWT bi fins Michele Giurgola.6) DRS (Dynamic Resonance System) innovative and exclusive CETMA COMPOSITES system. DRS implies that MANTRA blades were designed to reach in resonance in a definite frequency of kick. Resonance phenomenon is well note physical phenomenon characterizing all the structures. Simplifying, when a structure is forced with a frequency close to its natural frequency the amplitude of vibration increase in a very efficiency way (low damping). Operating by distribution of the stiffness along the blade we “tuned” the blades to certain natural frequencies. So when the blade is driven, by kicking, with a certain frequencies range the user feeling is a very low effort with an outrageous thrust. This study is done using a laser vibrometer (LDV) to perform a modal analysis, which helps in a stiffness distribution design of the blade.7) Dimensions: Width 195 mm; Length from the bending angle 742 mm; bending angle 33 degrees.8) Available stiffness: super soft (XS), soft (S), medium (M). 9) Colour choice: White, Gold, Magenta.10) Footpocket fitting: CETMA COMPOSITES, SpearPrto and Pathos.11) Water rail: CETMA COMPOSITES Water rails with variable height and high efficiency.12) Warranty: 2 years on carbon parts; 5 years if fitted with CETMA COMPOSITES footpocket ( Find out more ).13) Prizes and awards: Italian Champion 2016 CWT bi-fins -92 meters in 2 minutes and 55 seconds.

I love these fins!

I got a pair of the Mantra fins from the San Diego store. I was using Alchemy V3s, which are really good, but after 5 years it was time for something new. When I first took these out, my 30 meter dives were 6-7 seconds faster than normal. I had to reduce my effort on my ascent to compensate. They’re really great fins for line diving. The staff at SpearAmerica in SD were very helpful.

Awesome footpockets

Certainly surprisingly heavy when you pick them up but doesn’t feel heavy while diving. They are the most comfortable footpocket for my feet. I have been using them for several weeks now and absolutely love them.

Edge vs Mantra review

Disclaimer, all just personal opinion. I’m 6’4 about 210 pounds. I prefer a “buttery “blade. Even if that means some loss of power. So I initially started off with edge soft with pathos foot pocket that I molded to my weird shaped foot. Personally the way the edges are designed didn’t work for me, they’re very nice and soft upfront but have a much stiffer blade as you get closer to your foot. That’s exactly how they were designed, for spearos to give them more power coming off the bottom. Personally that just isn’t my style. I switched to the mantras medium with S wing foot pocket. That blade is designed to have pretty consistent stiffness throughout, Compared to the gradually more stiff design of the edge. I called Cetma in Italy and spoke to one of their chief designers just to clarify. The edge is a much more “muscular and progressively stiff” blade where as the mantra has a much more homogenous stiffness curve. The mantra medium is exactly what I was looking for. I have no doubt they’ll still give me enough power to come up with a decent sized fish but my main focus is efficiency and comfort when diving deeper and these 100% fit the bill. Both very well designed fins but the mantra is what I was looking for. Between the 33* foot angle and Consistent rather than progressively stiffer flex profile it just kicks like a much softer fin while still providing an amazing amount of power and efficiency.

My Cetma Mantras are Amazing!

I heard about how amazing these things where through rumor and such, but then got to try out my buddy’s pair at the end of our dive day on his boat... I put them on, jumped in and punched a little dive and went across and up and realized I had traveled farther than expected from his boat! I then kicked as hard as I could and I was a fricken torpedo! The angle on the Cetma footpocket allows your foot not to be pointed down as much to achieve ideal blade angle, which feels more natural. Realizing I could get max speed with 75% of the effort with more comfort, I went to SpearAmerica and got fitted with my pair (gold trim) and have loved them for the past year! I was using Moana (soft hybrid) carbon fins prior, which are great fins still, but my Cetma Mantras are my goto offshore fins. They ain’t cheap, but how many super cars have a cheap engine?!
